My Little House Design: What Keeps Me Up At Night

What Keeps Me Up At Night

What keeps you up at night? For me, it's a list. A very, very long to-do list. But it isn't the kind of 'keeps me up at night' that is bad, it's the kind where I am so excited and have so many ideas that I can't stop myself from thinking about it incessantly. My to-do list is all about my house. Surprise, surprise. My favorite blog of the moment is Young House Love. Their most recent post is all about their to-do list for their house room by room. I'm just anal enough to love that kind of crap. Their post inspired me to do a room by room assessment of my house where I list what I've done and what I hope to do in the future. Get ready because this is going to be loads of fun (for only me probably).
What I've done so far: Painted the exterior, Sprayed weed killer in cracks of the sidewalk, Painted mailbox What needs to be done: Repair cracks in sidewalk, Pull out (ugly) bushes and replace with Forsythia, Add mulch around new bushes, Screen in porch, Add porch door, Replace tree (it's a weed) with a small evergreen, Move daybed to porch, Add rug to porch, Add decorations to porch, Spray paint outdoor mats with a cool design
What I've done so far: Painted the walls, Added a gallery wall, Added furniture/rugs/TV/etc What needs to be done: Mount TV to wall, Add gallery wall around mounted TV, Decide if I'm going to paint wingback chairs or leave them as is, Replace vinyl blinds with bamboo Roman shades, Add a second couch (under gallery wall), Fix my end table/coffee table situation, Possibly add curtains, Work on corralling and hiding cords
What I've done so far: Added a curtain rod and curtains, Changed lighting fixture, Added table and side buffet, Added art, Painted walls What needs to be done: Add two more panels to fill out the curtains more, Possibly get a new dining table and chairs (the set I have now was free), Add a large bookshelf to wall opposite windows, Replace vinyl blinds with bamboo Roman shades
What I've done so far: Painted walls (although stupidly, I picked a color that was basically the same), rearranged the fridge and stove, Hung shelves, art, and hook, Replaced vinyl blinds with white wood slat blinds, Added a fabric background to built in shelf, replaced light fixture What needs to be done: Replace laminate floors with cork, Paint back wall with black chalkboard paint, Possibly repaint walls, Add some sort of cabinet or shelving above fridge, Possibly add curtains or fabric shades to window, Decide if I want to paint pendant light, Replace counter tops and backsplash, Paint/stain kitchen cart
What I've done: Painted the walls, Tiled floors, Added a built in medicine cabinet, Added shower curtain and mat, Added new towel bar and towel ring, removed cabinet above toilet and added art and crates What needs to be done: Replace sink faucet, add dual flush kit to toilet, re-grout shower tile, replace light fixture
What I've done: Painted walls, Added furniture and art What needs to be done: Replace light fixture, Refinish hardwood floors, paint closet, replace closet light fixture, add curtains ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whew! Are you as exhausted as I am just thinking about all of that? I'm so impatient to get it all done. I'm learning that one of the biggest parts of homeownership is just waiting because it's impossible to do it all immediately. Thankfully, I'm really enjoying the process.

I've been in my house two years this month and you've done way more with yours than I've done with mine. I'm afraid to pull the trigger on paint, I've basically just been living with the previous homeowner's choices. I'm itching to paint my bedroom a dark, moody color.

I've been a little crazy about this house, but I'm so happy with it. You should totally paint your room... my opinion is that it is only a $25 mistake if you hate it.

It's hard to come by well-informed people for this topic, but you sound like you know what you're talking about!
Thanks
